Our Flag in American Art 1935-2026

 I’m honored to share that my 2026 painting “United We Stand” has been selected for the exhibition “Our Flag in American Art 1935–2026” with Harmon-Meek Gallery (Naples, FL). The exhibition will then be traveling to the Museum of Art DeLand (DeLand, FL) then to Polk State College Gallery, in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary.

This is a multi-generational exhibition spanning nearly a century of artists exploring one of the most iconic symbols in our culture.

I’m proud to be included alongside artists such as Hunt Slonem, Will Barnet, Adolf Dehn, Gabriela Gonzalez Dellosso, Reynier Llanes, Jessica Daryl Winer, and others.

Founded in 1964, Harmon-Meek Gallery has a long-standing presence in the American fine art world, making this opportunity especially meaningful.

Artist statement for my piece below 

As an American citizen, the culture and symbolism of the United States have always been part of my identity. This work began from a place of curiosity: a desire to explore what it means to make my own mark on the nation and culture that shaped me.

The layered visual language throughout the flag reflects the layered nature of life itself. Our experiences, beliefs, and perspectives are constantly overlapping and evolving. While the composition appears chaotic up close, the marks stretch across the entire surface of the painting, creating a unifying visual rhythm. For me, this represents the possibility of unity even within difference.

My mark-making is also influenced by the modern age, where we are surrounded by an endless stream of opinions, voices, and information. The painting acknowledges that confusion while ultimately pointing toward something hopeful - the enduring human spirit and our collective drive to keep striving for something better.
